| Joseph Edgar Brownwell "Ed" Spangler was an older brother of my Great-Grandmother Rhoda (Spangler) Grace. I am told that when Rhoda passed away in 1912, her son Harvey (my grandfather) stayed with his Uncle Ed and their family for a time. Ed and other family members came to Nodaway County, MO from VA in 1887, when Ed would have been about 15 years old. Ed and Rhoda's father, Harvey D. Spangler, was Confederate Soldier who lost a leg in the War, and fathered 18 children with two wives over a span of 34 years. Don't know where Harvey Spangler is buried, he never left VA. |
